Myriad is firmly committed to using drama as a catalyst for young people’s cultural confidence in schools and to encourage dynamic interplay between students’ diverse backgrounds. Our education and workshop programme also builds essential life skills: confidence, communication and self-expression, inter-personal skills, teamwork and collaboration.
Schools and Youth Groups
Myriad’s workshop programme is designed to ‘help develop young people’s creative abilities and cultural understandings’ (as proposed in the report ‘All Our Futures’ by the National Advisory Committee on Creative and Cultural Education), but also helping to develop a new openness to intercultural exchange in the drama
classroom.
 Workshops include:
- Masks in performance
- Cross-cultural theatre
- Physical Storytelling theatre
At certain times Myriad will develop shows specifically for a young audience and during the developmental period we will offer the opportunity to schools to contribute to the devising process by joining us in a series of workshops conducted with groups of young people. These workshops will explore the use of story in performance drawing on young people’s imaginations and experiences.
New Generation
This programme of workshops and residencies aims to nurture the artistic individuality of the new theatre voices of tomorrow and to take positive action to encourage greater diversity in British theatre.
Aimed at groups in Further and Higher Education, Myriad has developed a range of events which both respond to the curriculum and syllabus needs of post 16 and 18 vocational and academic training but also provide a platform to explore a rich diversity of performance methodology.
